Gabbi goes Yoga

MY WHY

Yoga spaces in the western world have long been dominated by able-bodied, flexible, white women - something I have benefited from by being able-bodied, flexible, and white.

The practice of yoga has been transformed into a monetized, competitive, appearance-based sport rather than a spiritual practice.

Yoga, at its core, should inspire and ignite change at both an internal and external level. Yoga is political. Yoga is standing up to injustice.

Yoga is using my privileges both as an instructor and as a student to create a more inclusive space. A space where folks of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, and body sizes feel welcome, supported, and represented.

1:1 Sessions

Private sessions via zoom for Yoga, Meditation, or Breathwork. Our initial consult will be 15-20 minutes at no cost. The intention is to discuss what you’re looking for and to make sure I’m the right person to help you get there.

MY BACKGROUND

I completed my first yoga training in 2015 and began teaching Power Flow at my university. I realized quickly I was perpetuating a version of yoga that didn’t feel authentic or honorable to yoga’s roots. I chose to stop teaching for 3 years and dedicated myself to becoming a student. During that time, I completed my 200 Hour YTT through the Cape Cod Yoga School in Mashpee, MA and I received my 300 Hour YTT through the Vedansha Institute of Vedic Science and Alternative Medicine out of Rishikesh, India. I most recently trained with Donna Noble, founder of CurveSome Yoga and racial justice advocate based in the UK, in her Noble Art of Yoga for Teachers program.
